Making of My Lovestruck Ah Gong
My lovestruck Ah Gong is based on the true story of my grandfather.
My grandfather spent most of his life with his sick wife, caring for her and making sure that she did not go out of hand. However, after the death of his spouse, he was left alone, not having anything left to do. He often felt lonely as his children and grandchildren were all too busy with their lives to entertain him, hence he turned to community places to spend his time. Not only did he find a friend, but he found a GIRLfriend. Everything was going great, till he became a little too obsessed with her. He would often talk to her on the phone, everywhere he go. It did not matter if he had bathed or eaten yet, he was having too much fun with her to remember. Though his family thought it was hilarious, it did start to frustrate them.​
Director and script writer's statement​

For this film project, I took on the role of the director and the scriptwriter. I chose to write about my grandfather as I thought that the situation was hilarious. It was also the perfect story to write about as when covid hit, my grandfather had to stay inside and was unable to see his girlfriend. Hence, he could only resolve to calling her every single day, every single hour. There were times when his phone would go flat, and this would result in him being paranoid about it, which was funny to me.

Making this film was a bit hard, especially for someone's first time at being the director. As the director, I had full control of the film and had multiple responsibilities, hence it was a struggle to keep both me and the team afloat. Though this may not be my best film, I'm proud of trying.
